Monstera deliciosa

Budding/1 min read

The iconic Swiss cheese plant, known for its dramatic fenestrated leaves. A centerpiece of my indoor garden.

Care Log

May 2025: Repotted using Indoor Soil Mix - showing new growth within 2 weeks.

Care Requirements

Light: Bright indirect light. Direct sun burns the leaves; too little light stunts fenestration development.

Water: When top 2-3 inches of soil are dry. Yellowing leaves = overwatering. Drooping = underwatering.

Humidity: Appreciates 60%+ humidity but tolerates normal household levels.

Soil: Well-draining mix - see Indoor Soil Mix.

Growth Notes

  • New leaves emerge from the central growth point
  • Fenestrations (holes) develop as the plant matures
  • Aerial roots can be trained to climb a moss pole
  • Propagates easily from stem cuttings with nodes
